Do you feel worse in damp weather?

Homeopathy asks questions no other consulting room asks — and the answers are the prescription. Dr. Sudha has been asking them in Madurai for over thirty years. Come with them already answered.

Before you come

Twelve steps. Most take five minutes.

Each one opens the tool that does it. You do not have to do all twelve — the first three carry most of the weight.

Patient toolkit

Do the preparation here. Spend the consult talking.

Built for a phone and a thumb. Almost everything is a tap, a slider or a dial — typing is optional throughout.

Tool 01

Clinic today, or hospital right now?

This does not tell you what you have. It only tells you how fast you need to be seen, and by whom. Tick anything true for you today.

Tool 02

Your health story

One question at a time, and only the questions your own answers have earned. There are 73 questions and 401 possible answers in the bank; you will be asked roughly 30 to 40 of them, chosen by what you pick. Almost all of it is tapping.

Everything you tap stays on this device until you choose to send it
Tool 03

Today's pulse

Twenty seconds a day. Every day you log, one more petal opens. Come back tomorrow and the lotus remembers.

0
days in a row

Saved on this device only. Needed so that when you send the log, Dr. Sudha can match it to your file.

The 30-minute rule

Homeopathic pills are absorbed through the lining of the mouth, so a coating of food gets in the way. Keep the mouth clear for half an hour either side of a dose.

30:00

Take your dose, then press start.

How to take a dose
  1. Rinse your mouth with plain water.
  2. Tip the pills into the cap of the vial — never onto your palm.
  3. Drop them straight into your mouth and let them dissolve under the tongue.
  4. For liquid medicine, use the dropper. Do not touch it to your tongue.
  5. Wait the full time before eating, drinking, smoking or brushing.
  6. Store the vial cool, dark and dry, away from camphor, perfume and Vicks.
Tool 05

What to bring

Pick what you are coming about, and get the list of records worth carrying — so the first visit is not spent sending you away for tests you already have.

Bring these whatever the complaint
  • Every medicine you take, in the strip or bottle — not from memory
  • All old reports in date order, even ones you think are irrelevant
  • Your completed health story from tool 02
  • The name and number of any other doctor treating you
Scope of practice

What people come here for

Most of the caseload is chronic — the long-standing complaints that have already been through several other consulting rooms. Hormonal and skin conditions make up the largest share.

If your complaint is not on this list, ask. If homeopathy is not the right first line for it, you will be told so and pointed where to go instead.

The doctor

Dr. Sudha Gurunamasivayam

BHMS · MSc DFSM · PGN&D · CNCC

Thirty years of practice in the same town, treating in most cases the second and third generation of the same families. Homeopath and clinical dietician both — which means a consult here usually ends with something to change on the plate as well as something to take under the tongue.

She is also Managing Director of Lakshmi Home for Elders, and much of the clinic's geriatric work grew out of that.

  • Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery
  • MSc, Dietetics and Food Service Management
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Certificate in Nutrition and Child Care
  • Case analysis using Radar Opus repertory software
  • A dedicated hormone clinic within the practice
A first consultation here takes time. Nothing is prescribed inside five minutes, because the question being answered is not only what you have, but why you in particular have it.
The nutrition wing — Star Diet

Does the food on your plate actually feed you?

Four more tools, built on the food actually cooked in Tamil Nadu homes rather than on an American food pyramid.

Same doctor, same practice

Why a homeopath runs a diet clinic

Dr. Sudha kept writing diet charts alongside her prescriptions until she went back and studied dietetics properly. Star Diet is that half of the practice — and for thyroid, PCOS, diabetes, weight and pregnancy, it usually does at least as much work as the medicine does.

Start with the plate builder
Tool 01

Build the plate you actually ate

Tap what was on it. The plate redraws as you go, and tells you what is missing rather than what to cut. Measured against the ICMR-NIN plate for Indian adults.

Tool 02

What a balanced thali actually looks like

Most people are not eating the wrong things. They are eating the right things in the wrong proportions — usually far too much rice and far too little of everything else. Drag the sliders to match your usual plate and watch the thali redraw.

No weighing scale needed

Measure with your own hand

Your hand scales with your body, which is exactly why it works better than a standard cup.

One closed fistCooked rice for one meal. Most people serve two to three.
Your cupped palmOne katori of sambar, kootu or kuzhambu.
Both hands cupped togetherVegetables and keerai. This should be the biggest thing on the plate.
Your flat palm, without fingersFish, chicken, paneer or egg for one meal.
Your thumb, tip to knuckleOil or ghee for the whole meal.
One cupped handCurd or buttermilk.
Tool 03

Better versions of what you already eat

Nothing here asks you to stop eating Tamil food. Every swap keeps the same meal, the same kitchen and the same taste, and changes one thing about it. Pick a condition and the advice changes with it.

Pregnancy, week by week

Nutrition changes shape across the three trimesters, and so does what is worth worrying about. This does not replace your antenatal check-ups — bring it to them.

Small habits that decide whether the medicine works

None of this is fussiness. Homeopathic preparations are physically delicate and are absorbed in the mouth, so handling and timing genuinely matter.

Do

  • Keep the mouth clear for 30 minutesBefore and after every dose. Rinse with plain water first.
  • Let the pills dissolve under the tongueDo not chew them or wash them down.
  • Store them cool, dark and dryAway from the kitchen, direct sun and strong smells.
  • Tell us everything you are takingAllopathic, ayurvedic, siddha, supplements, over the counter.
  • Report changes, including bad onesA brief worsening early on is information, not failure. Message rather than stopping on your own.

Don't

  • Don't touch the pillsOil and moisture from your palm can ruin them. Use the cap.
  • Don't stop your other medicines on your ownNever stop blood pressure, thyroid, diabetes, cardiac, psychiatric or anti-epileptic medication without the doctor who prescribed it.
  • Don't self-prescribe from the internetPotency and repetition matter as much as the remedy name.
  • Don't use them past the expiry dateNatural does not mean indefinite.
  • Don't wait it out if something turns acuteSudden severe pain, breathlessness or bleeding needs a hospital.

Please read this before you decide anything

Homeopathy here is not offered as a replacement for emergency or conventional medical care. If you have a condition that needs surgery, urgent investigation or continuous conventional treatment — cardiac disease, cancer, tuberculosis, a fracture, an acute abdomen, uncontrolled diabetes or blood pressure, or a psychiatric emergency — get that care first. This clinic will say so plainly, and will not ask you to stop it.

Homeopathic treatment for chronic complaints works slowly and is judged over months. Nothing here is a guarantee of cure for any condition, and no outcome can be promised in advance.

Nothing on this website is a diagnosis or a prescription. The tools only help you prepare for a consultation with a qualified practitioner.

Questions patients actually ask

Before you come

Why does the first consultation take so long?

Because the prescription depends on the whole picture — how you sleep, what you crave, how you react to heat, how you handle bad news — not only on the diagnosis you arrived with. Expect 45 to 60 minutes for a first chronic case. Filling in your health story beforehand makes it a better consultation, not a shorter one.

Can I take homeopathic and allopathic medicines together?

In most cases yes, and for many patients that is exactly the plan — homeopathy alongside existing treatment, not instead of it. Bring the full list so it can be checked. Do not stop or reduce anything on your own.

Should I bring my allopathic diagnosis and reports?

Yes. A confirmed diagnosis and recent reports make the case clearer, not less relevant. Bring everything, in date order.

How long before I see a change?

It depends on the complaint and how long you have had it. Acute problems may respond within days. Long-standing chronic conditions are typically reviewed at four to six weeks, and treatment often continues for months. If nothing at all has shifted after a fair trial, say so at your follow-up — the plan should change, or you should be referred on.

Are there food restrictions?

No general diet is banned. The practical rule is the 30-minute gap around each dose, and keeping strong-smelling substances — camphor, menthol, strong perfume, and for some patients raw onion, garlic and coffee — away from dosing time.

What are the medicines actually made of?

Plant, mineral and animal sources, serially diluted and succussed to the stated potency, then dispensed on lactose-sucrose pills or in alcohol. They taste sweet because of the sugar carrier.

Can you consult me if I am not in Madurai?

Yes. Online consultations run over WhatsApp, Zoom or Google Meet, and medicines can be couriered. Send your health story and photographs of your reports beforehand. Some complaints will still need you to be seen in person at least once.

Is it safe in pregnancy, for children and for the elderly?

Homeopathic medicines are given across all age groups here. Tell the doctor if you are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding, and always mention a child's exact age and weight. For anyone elderly on multiple medicines, the full list matters more than anything else you can carry.

Case record — Part B

Locked, this prints as a blank ruled case paper. Unlocked, it can be typed into. Rubrics carry across from whatever the patient answered in Tool 02.

Enter the clinic PIN to type into this card.

Carried over from the patient’s answers — confirm or strike out.

The PIN is a convenience lock, not security — it runs in the browser and its value is readable in this page’s source. It keeps patients out of the doctor’s half; it protects nothing else.
